- I made this post for you because some of you might want to know more about me. As some of you will think I am an Engineer because of the clock project and yes I do want to be an Engineer. Today I am going to tell you how to find the area of a shape with a hole. To find the area, first we need to find the area of the shape in the middle, or the hole. Next, we need to find the area of the shape with the hole in it. So, like in my other post , where I taught you how to find area and perimeter, we multiply the sides again, and get our area. We find the area of the hole. And then we subtract the area of the hole from the area of the big shape. For example, if the big shape area sides are 8 and 10, then its area will be 80. The same thing with the hole, if one side is 4 and the other side is also 4, then we multiply them and get 16. Then we subtract 80-16 and we get our area, 64.
